Queen’s University to sponsor Young Business Person of the Year.

QUB has stated its main goal is to innovate and help students develop business ideas.

Queen’s University isn’t just focused on providing world-class education and an experience at the University.

We’re focused on the potential employability of each of our students after they graduate from the classroom. Education should create sustainability, and that’s why we provide an array of services to prepare our students for life after third-level education.

Queen’s official of the register Jo Clague said: “Innovation is an integral part of what we do at Queen’s, and we’re committed to supporting the business by playing a part in stimulating economic growth in Belfast as well as Northern Ireland and helping to develop initiatives that assist local businesses to grow. This is done through research, spin-offs of companies, and providing support for our students.

“Queen’s is thrilled to be the sponsor of this Young Business Person of the Year award, which is expected to be a fierce and highly competitive category.

“We provide a variety of support and courses which encourage and foster the spirit of Innovation and creativity among our students. We also believe in taking part in aiding in steering Northern Ireland towards a more prosperous society that is open to the world and building an economy that is based on local resources.”

Many successful young entrepreneurs begin their careers at Queen’s.

Our school of management has been recognized as a top college of business by the Small Business Charter, which celebrates the positive impact the business education system has had on students’ entrepreneurs, small businesses, the community, and local economic growth.

The school provides a broad array of possibilities for students’ involvement with local SMEs during their classes, starting from the William J Clinton Leadership Institute, which offers executive education to small-sized businesses to increase growth and leadership. It also offers programs in Innovation and digital that provide more opportunities for upskilling and reskilling of professionals for the ever-changing workplace.

It also provides innovative solutions to local businesses via research collaborations, knowledge transfer partnerships, and student consulting projects providing fresh perspectives on business management problems.

No matter their course of study, The Queen’s Student’s Union’s Enterprise SU team is there to assist students in generating and testing ideas, establishing new ventures, and learning entrepreneurial abilities.

Enterprise SU nurtures Northern Ireland’s most innovative entrepreneurial talent by providing advice for start-ups and mentoring, programs and competitions like QUB Dragons’ Den, and assisting with funding opportunities from outside.

In the past 2 years, this group has helped students, entrepreneurs by securing more than PS450,000 of funds for their businesses from grants and competitions.

Peter Gillan, the mechanical engineering student and entrepreneur, stated that The Enterprise SU team has been crucial in helping to secure financing.

He stated:“They helped teach us how to weave a narrative throughout our pitch. Thanks to their advice we were able to convey our vision and convince investors that our concepts have commercial value. We’re excited to continue our collaboration and working with Enterprise SU. Enterprise SU team as we introduce our product to the market.”

Entrepreneurship student Leon Gibson added: “I could not be more pleased with the staff of Enterprise SU and the support I have received in the past few months.

“I would encourage anyone with anything from an initial idea to a developing stage start up to reach out and make use of the resources available.”
